A Dual Perspective
A friend of NVCI shares his experience as both a donor and a patient
“The level of service at NVCI exceeds anything I have ever seen in a medical situation.”
— Bob McMonigle, donor & patient
Bob McMonigle has long been a friend of Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI). After retiring from IGT after 18 years, McMonigle started selling the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign,” donating a portion of the proceeds to NVCI.
Early this year, McMonigle experienced a different side of NVCI. Originally diagnosed with prostate cancer four years ago, he had a local recurrence in February. Now he would get an insider’s perspective on the organization he had been supporting all along. Under the care of
David Pomerantz, M.D., Clinical Director of Radiation Oncology, McMonigle was treated with a standard eight-week course of radiation. His experience as a patient reaffirmed his commitment to Nevada Cancer Institute.
“The level of service at NVCI exceeds anything I have ever seen in a medical situation,” McMonigle says. “It made me feel grateful to be in some small way a part of this mission. My only regret is that many of my friends who died of cancer never got to experience what NVCI has to offer.”
